Who is in charge of the executive branch?

The President is in charge of the executive branch of the government. This position holds the highest authority within the executive branch, which is responsible for enforcing laws, conducting foreign policy, and overseeing the various federal agencies and departments that implement government policy. The President also serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces and has the power to veto legislation, among other vital responsibilities.

While the Vice President and the Cabinet play important roles in supporting the President and executing policies, they do not lead the executive branch. The Vice President assists the President and may step in if the President is incapacitated, but the ultimate decision-making authority lies with the President. The Cabinet consists of heads of executive departments who advise the President but do not assume control over the entire branch. The Senate, on the other hand, is part of the legislative branch, tasked with making laws rather than executing them. Therefore, the President's leadership role clearly establishes them as the head of the executive branch.
